Cute cute cute

Is this not just the cutest little thing? I have a family of ground squirrels living in/under my yard. Every day I am able to enjoy watching them eat from under the bird feeder.

Unfortunately, my cat also has been enjoying them...as a snack! Darn cat. He is forced into being an indoor cat, but he very much wants to be outdoors. This is a battle we have fought for the last 10 years when we found him as a little kitten. Anyway, any chance he has to scoot out the door, he takes. To top it off, after he sneaks out, he then feels the need to bring me his leftovers! Darn cat.

Heavy hearted

Today I come to you with a heavy heart. Today, a dear friend and confidant was put to rest. Lucky, our 18 year old Black Lab took her last breaths. We found out about 6 months ago that her kidneys were shutting down. Because of medication, she was able to have 6 more months of quality living...and we were able to have 6 more months of love with her. Today though, she was no longer living, just existing. It was time.

We adopted Lucky 5 years ago when she was 13 years old, never dreaming we would have this much time with her. She has been a source of so much joy and love.

Her spot under the window is empty. George (our younger dog) has never been apart from her and is lost. My heart is sad. But...there is a happy, pain free dog running with the angels! Enjoy yourself Lucky!

Tidy Tuesday

This weeks Tidy task is for pet owners. Time to wash all the pet bedding. Clean their laying area good. Weed through the toys and get rid of any that might soon be dangerous (bells or squeekers about falling out). Make sure your suppy of pet grooming supplies are full. If they wear pet clothes, make sure to have them clean and ready to go and that your pet still fits into them.

For your pet, do they need their nails trimmed? Bath? Haircut?

When you think you're having a bad day, imagine this poor person who came home to this:

Yeah, life is looking pretty good around here now.

Poor Kitty

My poor poor kitty had to have surgery on Saturday.
He has a tube inbetween the front and back skin of his ear to drain it.
Darn neighborhood cats beat up on my cat...darn cats. Bait is mainly an indoor kitty, but longs to be outside. He has no front claws so we try to keep him in. But..with having a daycare, my door is opened several times a day, which gives Bait several chances to run for freedom. He snuck out Tuesday and we didn't see him again until Friday afternoon..with a tore up ear, a terrible infection and a fever. Not to mention he had lost weight and I could feel his butt bones.
Our neighbor has a cat that will actually come through the slats on our fenced in yard and beat my cat up in our own yard! Darn cat.
Bait is doing well, eating and drinking. He has to go back in 2 weeks to have the tube removed. Poor poor kitty.
